Head of Karahunj Accused of Transferring Money to Citizens for Participation in the 'Armenia' Bloc Campaign
The head of the administrative community of Karahunj, L.A. (Lusine Avetyan), has been arrested by the investigator of the Special Investigative Service of Armenia on suspicion of committing public danger acts under several articles of the Armenian Criminal Code, according to a statement from the SIS press service.
According to the facts gathered in the criminal case, L.A. allegedly coerced four residents of Karahunj by transferring amounts ranging from 100,000 to 220,000 AMD through bank transfers in May 2021 under the guise of "Financial Support." She compelled them to participate in a campaign organized by the 'Armenia' bloc in Goriss on June 8, 2021, in connection with the snap parliamentary elections, as well as obstructed their free exercise of voting rights by forcing them to vote for the mentioned bloc.
Additionally, on May 6, 2021, due to social and health issues, L.A. transferred another resident of Karahunj 100,000 AMD via bank transfer, presenting the money as a bribe to compel the electorate and their spouse to attend the campaign organized by the 'Armenia' bloc in Goriss on June 7, 2021, as well as to vote for the 'Armenia' bloc in the elections.
The investigation is ongoing.
