A Successor to Grigori Khachaturov Has Been Found
168.am reported that the commander of the third army corps of the Armenian Armed Forces, Major General Grigori Khachaturov, is being relieved of duty, and his contract will not be extended. The removal of Khachaturov is essentially part of the Azerbaijani-Pashinyan plan, the consequences of which will yet be seen in the form of losses of territories in Tavush and positions under the control of the third army corps.
“Azerbaijani Telegram channels are gleefully reporting that the Armenian military-political leadership has decided not to extend the contract of the commander of the third army corps, Grigori Khachaturov, who was ‘torpedoing’ the demarcation process at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in the Tavush region,” the report states.
Pashinyan's administration has already found a replacement for Khachaturov. According to 168.am, the commander of the military unit in Jermuk, Colonel Gegham Martirosyan, will take his place.
During the war, Martirosyan was in Karvachar leading the unit and later was awarded the Order of the Combat Cross of the 1st degree. In a recent interview with a group of journalists who visited the positions in the Jermuk area, Gegham Martirosyan stated: “We, the military, consider our task accomplished or not, based on the outcome of the combat tasks set before us. As for what has happened as a result of political decisions, that is for the political decision-makers and political scientists to discuss. I will say that in that direction, my soldier and unity have won. I was simply fortunate to lead that glorious unit during that period and to receive glory as a victorious commander. One of the reasons for the successes in Karvachar was that the protection of personnel was brought to nearly 100 percent.”
In response to a question from 168.am regarding whether the military is blamed for the defeat in the war and whether the entire responsibility for the defeat rests with the army, Colonel Gegham Martirosyan limited himself to saying that the entire Armenian nation has suffered defeat.
