Tragic Incident in Yerevan: Relatives of an 8-Month Pregnant Woman Say, 'We Fell into the Hands of These Butchers, They Ate the Baby's Head'
A tragic incident occurred in Yerevan on July 3. According to Shamshyan.com, around 08:50, a 50-year-old resident of Yerevan, Anahit G., approached the Mashtots police department to report that her son's wife, 23-year-old Kima S., had suffered a misfortune due to incorrect treatment and medication prescribed by a doctor at the ‘Armenia’ medical center’s maternity ward.
Kima's brother-in-law, Hovhannes, told photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan: “8-months pregnant Kima arrived at the hospital on her own, feeling a bit unwell. They performed a sonogram, and the specialist advised that she should be hospitalized for treatment. Later, Kima approached her doctor with the sonogram report, who told her, 'Kima dear, if you feel bad, come back; there's nothing serious going on with you.' However, prior to this, the sonogram doctor had indicated that her condition was very poor. They could have performed a cesarean section because she was 8 months pregnant and could have delivered the baby today, giving it to the mother's arms. Kima returned home, following the doctor's advice, but felt worse overnight and came back to the hospital in the morning, only to be told that the baby had already died.
I called the Ministry of Health; they did not assist us. I called the police and filed a report, but they told me to come in and file a complaint. I went to the Mashtots police station to lodge a complaint. For two days, the baby remained deceased inside her, and the doctors claimed they were waiting for her to birth naturally so that she might be able to have children later. Then they administered artificial contractions and had been waiting since the previous day. The issue is that, due to the negligence of the doctor, they sent an 8-month pregnant woman in critical condition home. The doctor who performed all the procedures was a specialist from another hospital, and he said that if they had performed the cesarean at that very moment, they could have delivered the baby and placed it in the mother's arms. We approached the doctors, but they are blaming each other, wanting to cover up their dirt; it’s complete negligence. We fell into the hands of these butchers; they ate the baby's head.”
According to G. Shamshyan, materials are being prepared in the investigative department of the Mashtots police regarding the incident. For more details, visit the website.
