Criminal Case Launched for Abandonment of Newborn in Gyumri

A criminal case has been initiated regarding the abandonment of a newborn on Shahumyan Street in Gyumri (Bus Station neighborhood).

The case was initiated under Article 34-106 of the RA Criminal Code (Attempted Murder of an Infant by the Mother, Completed Due to Circumstances Beyond the Person’s Control).

An investigation is underway, as reported by Gurgin Grigoryan, the prosecutor of Shirak province.

On July 3, in the Bus Station neighborhood of Gyumri, a newborn baby boy, born just hours earlier, was left under one of the walls. A passerby noticed the baby, having heard his cries. Upon approaching and seeing the infant move, the passerby immediately alerted the police and emergency services.

At around 10:30 a.m., the newborn was transported by an ambulance to the Austrian hospital for mothers and babies in Gyumri. The baby weighs 3 kg and 100 grams and measures 51 cm in height.
