Trains Delayed on South Caucasus Railway Due to Severe Weather Conditions
Trains on the South Caucasus Railway were delayed by up to 5 hours last night due to severe weather conditions, as reported by the South Caucasus Railway Company.
Stormy winds and thunderstorms across Armenia and Georgia led to power outages along the railway sections from Shulaveri (Georgia) to Armavir (Armenia) and towards Yerevan. In some areas, contact network cables were torn down and trees fell on the railway tracks.
Until July 3, 02:00, railway workers were conducting emergency operations to restore train movements on the South Caucasus Railway.
On the night of July 2 to 3, trains from Yerevan to Batumi were delayed by 1 hour and 55 minutes, while trains from Batumi to Yerevan were delayed by 4 hours and 52 minutes. The Gyumri-Yerevan express was delayed by 2 hours and 37 minutes, and the Gyumri-Yerevan and Yerevan-Araks electric trains faced delays of 3 hours and 27 minutes and 44 minutes, respectively. Additionally, 6 freight trains were delayed by 18 hours and 45 minutes.
The consequences of the strong winds and rainfall from last night may also cause further delays today. Passengers are advised to check information at their local train stations.
