Two Armenian Swimmers to Participate in Tokyo Olympic Games

The International Swimming Federation has officially informed the Armenian National Olympic Committee about the participation of two Armenian swimmers in the Tokyo Olympic Games. This was reported on the official website of the ANOC.

Arthur Barseghyan will compete in the 50 and 100 meters freestyle events, while Varsenik Manucharyan will compete in the 100 meters freestyle event.

The International Association of Athletics Federations has also confirmed the participation of Levon Aghasyan, a triple jumper from Kapan, in the Tokyo Summer Olympic Games. Aghasyan achieved a result of 17 meters and 16 centimeters at the open championships held in Tbilisi, earning his Olympic qualification. It is noteworthy that this result exceeds the required standard by two centimeters.

Thus, the number of Armenian athletes participating in the 32nd Summer Olympic Games in Japan has reached 17. Armenia will also be represented by weightlifters Simon Martirosyan and Izabella Yalyan, boxers Koryun Soghomonyan, Arman Darchinyan, and Hovhannes Bachkov, gymnast Arthur Davtyan, Greco-Roman wrestlers Arthur Aleksanyan, Karapet Chalyan, Armen Melikyan, and Karen Aslanyan, freestyle wrestlers Arsen Harutyunyan and Vahagen Tevanian, judoka Ferdinand Karapetyan, and shooter Elmira Karapetyan.

The Olympic Games are scheduled to take place from July 23 to August 8.
