Pashinyan Signs Decision to Cease Operations of the Ministry of Emergency Situations' Seismic Protection Department

Nikol Pashinyan has signed a decision to amend the Prime Minister's 2018 June 11 resolution No. 740-L. The decision states:

  1. To cease the operations of the Seismic Protection Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia.
  2. To recognize as void the subpoint 4 of point 33 of the regulations approved by the Prime Minister of Armenia’s resolution No. 740-L from June 11, 2018.

Auroranews contacted Anna Baghdasaryan, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Emergency Situations, who clarified that the department is operational and continues to perform its functions. Previously, this department had a state non-commercial organization status, and in 2018 it was decided to convert it into a department to enhance efficiency. However, after conducting a study, it became clear that no structural changes were necessary, and it does not need to operate as a department.

Thus, the decision to convert the Seismic Protection Department into a department is canceled, and it will operate as it did before as a state non-commercial organization.
