No Such Statement Made: Chinese Ambassador on Investment in the 'Zangezur Corridor'

The Ambassador of China to Armenia, Fan Yong, has denied reports circulating in Azerbaijani media suggesting that Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Guo Min, spoke about investment in the 'Zangezur Corridor' within the framework of the 'One Belt, One Road' transport project.

In a conversation with reporters, the ambassador stated that they had discussed this matter with Guo Min and clarified that such a statement was never made.

“China has friendly relations with both Armenia and Azerbaijan. We hope that this conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan can be resolved through negotiations, which is preferable to war. We will take all necessary steps to promote a peaceful resolution of the issue within our capabilities. Thus, we will try to ensure border security in the region,” noted Fan Yong.
