Emergency Situations Ministry Responds to Misleading Information about Seismic Protection Service
The Ministry of Emergency Situations officially responded to misleading information circulating in the media regarding the closure of the Seismic Protection Territorial Service.
The ministry states that considering the functions of the Seismic Protection Territorial Service, particularly its relations with various international organizations, the importance of the observation network's operations, as well as other professional functions, the government has deemed it more appropriate for the Seismic Protection Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations to continue operating in its previous status as a state non-commercial organization (SNCO).
It is noted that alongside the spread of the information, Auroranews had contacted the spokesperson of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and learned that the service is operational and continues to fulfill its functions. Previously, this division had SNCO status but was reclassified as a department in 2018 to increase efficiency. However, studies have clarified that there is no need for any structural changes, and the service is not appropriate to be transformed into a department.
As such, the decision to convert the Seismic Protection Division into a department has been revoked, and it will function as before, remaining an SNCO.
