Visitor Access to Sevan National Park's Norashen Sanctuary Restricted for Six Months

Visitor access to the Norashen Sanctuary and protected area of the Sevan National Park will be restricted for six months, as reported by the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia.

“Taking into account the rising water level of Lake Sevan, as well as the need to limit human traffic in the Norashen Sanctuary and its surrounding area due to the pandemic, which has resulted in increased nesting and a rise in the number and types of non-breeding birds in coastal lands, the acting Minister of Environment Romanos Petrosyan has ordered a six-month restriction on visitor access to the Norashen Sanctuary and protected area of the Sevan National Park.

Strict monitoring will be conducted in cooperation with the special patrol unit of the Sevan National Park and various other government and law enforcement agencies,” the announcement added.
