Son of Former Head of Special Investigation Service Stabbed in Yerevan
On June 30, a dispute escalated into a brawl and stabbing incident in Yerevan. At approximately 1:30 am, the police received a call from the number 1 university hospital reporting that a citizen with a "stab wound to the left flank" had been admitted.
According to shamshyan.com, police determined that the injured individual is 31-year-old Narek Shahinyan, a resident of Yerevan. While doctors were fighting to save his life, police from the Central Police Department quickly ascertained that he had been transported to the hospital from the intersection of Teryan and Isahakyan streets, where the altercation and brawl had taken place, during which N. Shahinyan was stabbed.
N. Shahinyan is currently unable to provide a statement about the incident. Reports indicate that he works as the deputy head of the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia in Yerevan. His father is Vahram Shahinyan, the former head of the Special Investigation Service. The police are searching for a suspect believed to be the head of one of the departments of the Central District Municipality.
