29 Years Ago Today, Azerbaijan Launched an Attack Along the Chartar-Machkalashen-Red Market Line
Exactly 29 years ago today, Azerbaijani forces launched offensive operations along the entire length of the Chartar-Machkalashen-Red Market defensive line. This was reported by Senor Hasratyan, former spokesperson for the Artsakh Defense Army, on his Facebook page.
He specifically noted: “The advancement of a large number of enemy infantry was supported by more than ten armored vehicles, a modified L-29 type military training aircraft, and MI-24 helicopters. Choosing the strategic direction of the Qajar-Red Market segment for the main attack, the adversary aimed to break through the defenses of the Varanda valley, and then develop the advance along the route from Red Market to Sarushen, Shosh, and Stepanakert, ultimately reaching the capital of the republic and isolating southern Artsakh from the north.”
As a result of intense battles, by around 4:00 PM that day, the enemy was pushed back... 28 years after that operation, the adversary again launched offensive operations in the same direction, yet the Red Market remained unbreached.
Glory to all those who managed to keep this strategically vital position for Artsakh invulnerable, through their lives and bravery, both yesterday and today!
