Azerbaijan's Military Funding Aims to Keep Armenia Under Threat and Coercion: Tigran Abrahamyan

The President of Azerbaijan has announced today that he will increase the number of armed forces and supply the army with new weapons. In the post-war phase, Azerbaijan has already managed to renew or sign new contracts with several countries with which it has traditional military-technical cooperation.

Military expert Tigran Abrahamyan wrote about this on his Facebook page.

“Azerbaijan is primarily trying to fill and restore ammunition stockpiles and replenish its military equipment inventory, while intensively boosting its defense industry. Significant work is being done to ensure necessary defensive structures on the border between Armenia and Artsakh. Armenia is starting off 7-8 months behind. The national security strategy has not been revised, and the package of reforms for the Armed Forces remains just on paper, and, by the way, if it exists, very few know about it.

This preparation by Azerbaijan, the funding directed towards its armed forces, is primarily aimed at keeping Armenia continuously under threat and coercion, presenting stronger positions in negotiations on various issues. I have not yet mentioned that the threat of the use of force continues to remain on the Turkish-Azerbaijani agenda, and its likelihood carries increasing risks in the coming years, depending on various circumstances,” he noted.
