June 26 is celebrated as Air Force Day in the Armenian Armed Forces calendar, reports the Ministry of Defense's Telegram channel. It is noted that military aviation is one of the first branches created within the national army.

The Air Force units of the RA Armed Forces were formed in parallel with the defensive combat operations taking place within the country's borders during a pivotal period for the state and the National Army. In January 1992, the newly established Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia created the Aviation and Air Defense Forces Directorate. In September 1992, by the order of the Minister of Defense of Armenia, the Aviation Directorate was separated and became an independent structure.

In the following years, alongside the phases of military construction, various programs for the development and improvement of the Armed Forces' Air Force were implemented, which have ensured that the aviation directorate successfully fulfills its assigned tasks through its subordinate units, representing a well-established and cohesive structure.
