White Coat Protest in Front of the Prosecutor's Office in Support of Charchyan
Today, doctors held a protest in front of the main Prosecutor's Office of Armenia, demanding the release of Professor Armen Charchyan. Additionally, in an open letter, around 539 representatives of the medical community addressed the public, the law enforcement system, and the authorities, emphasizing that due to their profession, they are convinced that human life should be the paramount value in the Republic of Armenia, and the improvement of human life is a prerequisite for all other forms of wellbeing.
“We guarantee that your fears of criminal law will not become a reality; the professor will present himself at the first demand of the law enforcement agencies. Remove the detention, contribute to its elimination; history will remember you with good words. We ask, urge, demand—remove the detention, let the professor's soul find peace,” the letter states.
The doctors also noted in the open letter that no official is eternal and that the person and their good deeds are eternal. “Your relatives, family members, and you have been our patients, and will continue to be our patients, and nothing will stop us from treating you, but our souls are troubled; we are struggling to concentrate, and the trembling of our fingers is hindering us,” it reads.
The doctors also mentioned that otherwise, they are ready to don their white coats again and take to the streets until Armen Charchyan is released.
