Georgian Prime Minister Announces Willingness to Act as Mediator Between Armenia and Azerbaijan

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili announced during a speech in parliament that Georgia has successfully taken on the role of mediator between Azerbaijan and Armenia, particularly regarding the return of 15 Armenian prisoners held in Azerbaijan. According to 'Armenpress', referencing Georgian media, Irakli Garibashvili stated that Georgia has never played such a role in the past.

“This was a demonstration of trust from the leaders of both countries towards Georgia. In turn, I once again confirm Georgia’s full readiness to continue playing a mediating role in this process,” said Garibashvili.

Earlier, the Prime Minister's Office of Georgia reported that Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili was personally involved in the process of returning the 15 Armenian prisoners on June 12, and that thanks to his efforts, the Armenian side also provided important information to Baku regarding the mined areas.
