Ani Consolidated Community Leader Artak Gevorgyan Charged
Ani consolidated community leader Artak Gevorgyan has been charged. The information is reported by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
According to the statement, as a result of investigative and procedural actions carried out in the criminal case being examined by the Shirak regional investigative department, the circumstances of the abuses committed by the leader of the Ani consolidated community have been clarified.
“According to the data obtained during the investigation, the community leader, having held the mentioned position since November 5, 2017, abused his official powers by making a unilateral decision to allocate an apartment from one of the buildings on Dzerzhinsky Street in the city of Maralik to his relative, who was absent from the Republic of Armenia, and to give her an apartment order, thus creating a precondition for the members of the council to vote in favor of the process of transferring the mentioned apartment to her as a donation later,” the Investigative Committee reports.
After obtaining the agreement of the community council members, a decision was made to allocate the aforementioned apartment to the relative as a gift, after which a donation agreement was signed between the representative of the community mayor’s office and the woman, resulting in the apartment being transferred free of charge, causing significant damage to the legitimate interests of the community.
Based on a combination of sufficient evidence, the leader of the Ani consolidated community has been charged under the first part of Article 308 of the RA Criminal Code (abuse of official powers). As a measure of restraint, a signature not to leave the country has been applied against him. The pre-investigation has been completed, and the criminal case has been sent to the supervising prosecutor with an indictment conclusion for submission to court.
