Tatoian Visits Shengavit Medical Center to Meet Court-Ordered Detained Armen Charachyan
Arman Tatoian, the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, along with the head of his department, Artjom Sedrakyan, has visited the Shengavit Medical Center to meet with Armen Charachyan, the director of Izmirlian Medical Center, who was detained today by a ruling of the Yerevan General Jurisdiction Court, as reported by the Armenian Human Rights Defender's Facebook page.
Earlier, Charachyan's lawyer, Aram Vardevanyan, informed that the director of Izmirlian Medical Center was transported to the hospital via ambulance prior to the announcement of the detention ruling.
“We do not have additional information about the professor's health condition at this time. We are also informing that we have submitted an emergency petition to the Prosecutor General of Armenia, Artur Davtyan. In the petition, we requested that he exercise his discretionary authority to lift the detention as a measure of restraint. It is worth noting that this authority is generally granted to the Prosecutor's Office for such cases,” wrote Vardevanyan.
