Mother See Calls for Immediate Release of Charchyan

The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin expresses deep concern regarding the detention of Professor Armen Charchyan, the director of the Izmirlian Medical Center. The charges laid against the esteemed physician are largely perplexing, and the decision to detain him is considered disproportionately harsh, as highlighted by numerous reputable legal experts. This was stated in a recent announcement by the Mother See.

In the current situation, the actions taken against the physician can only be described as persecution and unwarranted prosecution, which is unequivocally condemnable.

We urge the relevant authorities to immediately release Professor Armen Charchyan, considering his poor health conditions and the presence of his minor child under his care.

Veteran physician Armen Charchyan has saved thousands of lives in the most challenging and difficult circumstances, and even today, leading the Mother See’s Izmirlian Medical Center, he continues to devote himself to serving our people and homeland. Now, with the extreme measure of detention applied, his health is at risk, and his ability to assist in the protection of lives and health has been compromised.

We are confident that the criminal investigation can be conducted without isolating Dr. Armen Charchyan from society.
