Armenia to Receive First Batch of Johnson & Johnson Vaccine

Armenia will receive the first batch of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine by the beginning or the end of this year’s autumn, with a one-dose regimen. At the same time, the Novavax vaccine is also expected to be imported during this period. This was stated by Acting Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan during a conversation with reporters after today’s Government meeting.

“We are already using three types of vaccines, with 70,000 people vaccinated. We anticipate that after the holidays, prior to the start of the school year, there will be vaccination uptakes. We have not had any concerning cases regarding vaccinations,” said Avanesyan.

In Armenia, vaccinations are being carried out with Sputnik V, AstraZeneca, and CoronaVac vaccines. Vaccinations with AstraZeneca and CoronaVac are available for individuals aged 18 and older, based on requests and voluntarily. The Sputnik V vaccine is intended for chronic patients over the age of 18, healthcare workers aged 18 to 54, and residents and staff of social care centers.

Since the start of COVID-19 vaccinations, as of June 20, a total of 64,293 vaccinations have been administered in Armenia. Vaccinations are carried out in primary healthcare facilities every day of the week, with scheduled hours on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. It is necessary to call the preferred polyclinic in advance, irrespective of attachment, to register for vaccination. Foreign citizens can also be vaccinated. Vaccinations are free of charge.
