Voting Patterns in Prisons Revealed: The 'Armenia' Alliance Defeats the C governmental Party

In the elections held on June 20, it has been confirmed that convicted individuals and prisoners also participated in the voting process. An analysis of the election results across 10 penal institutions revealed that a significant majority of these individuals cast their votes for the 'Armenia' alliance, led by Robert Kocharyan. In second place was the 'Civil Contract' party, headed by Nikol Pashinyan.

For instance, in the 'Vardashen' prison (polling station 10/56), out of 154 eligible voters, 139 participated in the election. The 'Armenia' alliance secured 76 votes, while 'Civil Contract' received 22 votes. The 'Prosperous Armenia' party took third place with 7 votes.

At polling station 10/57, located in the 'Nubarashen' prison, 69 out of 71 eligible voters participated. The 'Armenia' alliance garnered 46 votes against 17 for 'Civil Contract'. The 'Armenia' alliance was also a strong leader in the 'Armavir' prison (polling station 14/58), where out of 425 eligible voters, 302 cast their ballots. Here, 202 votes went to the 'Armenia' alliance, while 'Civil Contract' received 41 votes. Additionally, the 'Honorary' alliance gained 18 votes, and 12 votes went to 'Prosperous Armenia'.

In the 'Yerevan Center' prison (polling station 9/61), known as the 'National Security Service's basement', 10 out of 15 eligible voters participated, with votes cast as follows: 'Armenia' alliance—4 votes, 'Civil Contract'—2 votes, and 'Honorary' alliance—2 votes.

Polling station 23/59 encompasses the 'Vanadzor' prison, where 63 out of 69 eligible voters cast their votes. The 'Armenia' alliance received 26 votes, 'Civil Contract' 16, 2 votes went to the 'Bright Armenia' party, and both 'Prosperous Armenia' and the 'Democratic Party of Armenia' received 3 votes each.

In the 'Hrazdan' prison (polling station 26/41), the 'Armenia' alliance again led with 42 votes from 75 participants out of 82 eligible voters, while 'Prosperous Armenia' received 13 votes, and 'Civil Contract' 12 votes.

At the 'Prison Hospital' penal institution, 50 out of 73 eligible individuals participated in voting, with the 'Armenia' alliance securing 38 votes against 6 for 'Civil Contract'.

The 'Kosh' prison (polling station 18.71) had the smallest number of voters, with 8 out of 9 eligible individuals voting; 5 of them voted for the 'Armenia' alliance, and 2 for 'Civil Contract'.

Only two polling stations saw the 'Armenia' alliance lose. Specifically, in the 'Sevan' prison, the alliance received no votes, while all 11 eligible voters participated, where 6 votes went to 'Civil Contract' and 4 to the 'Free Homeland' alliance.

At polling station 33/55, covering the 'Artik' prison, 'Civil Contract' emerged victorious with 21 votes, while the 'Armenia' alliance received 8 votes and 'Prosperous Armenia' 3 votes.

In total, 812 individuals from the imprisoned population participated in the elections. According to the penal service, as of June 20, there are 2019 inmates under custodial care, of whom 999 are included in the voter lists provided to the Central Election Commission. According to Armenian electoral law, those convicted of serious and particularly serious crimes are ineligible to vote while serving their sentences.
