There Are Signals After the Elections Indicating We Are Moving Towards a Solution - Grigoryan on the Situation at the Border

Negotiations are ongoing, and I wouldn’t want to say much more, but overall, it seems that the issue is moving towards a solution. This was stated by the Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan in an interview with Azatutyun, responding to reports that Russian border guards should be deployed to the area near Gegharkunik Province bordering Azerbaijan.

"We hope that, as we have declared, this issue should be resolved diplomatically, and so we will resolve it," he noted.

He mentioned that forces inside and outside Armenia had sought to influence the electoral process before the elections and had tried to escalate border and security issues as much as possible. "Naturally, we managed to control this process, understanding that it might be impossible to resolve the issue before the elections, since their aim was to influence the elections. Right after the elections, there are already signals that we are moving more towards a solution. If no other issues arise, I hope that we will resolve these issues, and most of the security problems will find solutions much more quickly than before the elections, because our opposition wanted to create significant security threats and instill fear in people to conduct elections based on fear, but they were unsuccessful in this," he said.
