I Will Express My Personal Opinion: Kocharian Speaks About Elections
The mandate that this government received is not a mandate of confidence towards them, stated Robert Kocharian during a press conference. The first candidate of the 'Armenia' alliance said their meetings have been more crowded than those of the government and have had a greater energy.
"I will express my personal opinion: I have the impression that the factor of 'return of the former governments' worked here," he said, recalling that all three former presidents participated in the elections. "We managed to break that circumstance. The campaign was very short. Especially in rural areas, we had quite a few meetings, while the government recorded better results precisely in rural areas. If the campaign had lasted one or two weeks longer, we could have changed that perception as well," he stated.
According to Kocharian, this was probably the last bullet of the revolution. "I don't think the government properly assesses this situation; they believe that this was a new mandate. However, this was more of a mandate coming from the opposite side," he concluded.
