The Provoker of the Incident Was a Trusted Person of the CP Party: Suren Sahakyan

Member of our executive body Suren Sahakyan wrote: “Due to the unfortunate incident, I returned home in the morning. I want to emphasize that the person who provoked the incident was a trusted individual of the CP party, who had previously stood out for their rude behavior / video in the comments /. I also announce that I did not notice any woman amidst the ensuing scuffle and find it hard to imagine how anyone, apart from the direct participants of the brawl, could have been physically harmed. Regardless of all this, it is clear that if the scuffle had not occurred, no one would have been physically harmed, except for the state, represented by those who lack knowledge of basic legal norms. These actions jeopardize the already unbearable reputation of our state institutions.

Details related to the incident are being investigated by the relevant department of the police, and we hope that there will be no doubts regarding the fair conduct of the investigation. Nevertheless, I will try to reach out to the affected woman tomorrow and apologize to her for the incident. I hope the injuries she sustained were not directly caused by me, as she appeared in my field of view only minutes after the incident had concluded.

The rampant ignorance in Armenia must be defeated at every step, and only then will we have the opportunity to move forward.”
