The Cause of Power Outages in Various Regions of Armenia Revealed
After the start of the ballot counting process in Armenia, the power outages were linked to issues arising in the "Alaverdi" high-voltage line. This information was provided to Sputnik Armenia by the director of the state enterprise "Operator of the Electric Power System," Mnatsakan Mnatsakanyan.
According to him, the problems occurred when Armenia was once again importing electricity from Georgia (the two countries periodically exchange electricity in the case of short-term shortages). In such cases, part of Armenia's energy system is connected to the Georgian system or vice versa.
This particular connection was made after 9:00 PM. Around 9:40 PM, a problem arose on the "Alaverdi" line, which was receiving electricity from Georgia for the Shirak and Lori regions. Immediately after the disruption, these two regions were reconnected to Armenia's system.
