The Operation of Raids on Offices in Sisian is an Unprecedented Scandal: Vardevanyan
The official representative of the 'Armenia' alliance's election headquarters, Aram Vardevanyan, has issued a statement in which it is specifically noted:
“We have received confirmed information that the National Security Service has organized an operation to raid all the offices of the 'Armenia' alliance in the Syunik region, particularly in the city of Sisian. The basis for the raid, according to a court decision, was the search for ballot-printing equipment. The absurdity of this situation lies in the fact that such equipment cannot exist since ballots are printed exclusively by special printing houses, none of which can be located in the headquarters.
Furthermore, we have information that the decision for the raid was made not by the general jurisdiction court of Syunik region, but by Judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan of the general jurisdiction court of Yerevan. The purpose of this action is to paralyze the activities of supporters of the 'Armenia' alliance on election day, which is unprecedented and an unparalleled scandal in history.
Moreover, the heads of the headquarters are being taken to Yerevan from Syunik on election day without any reason, allegedly for clarification. We urge law enforcement agencies to return to the rule of law. We appeal to the Central Electoral Commission to take all necessary legal measures to immediately restore the normal functioning of the 'Armenia' alliance and the voting process. We also call on the Human Rights Defender to keep the created situation under strict control,” the statement reads.
