Zarukyan Arrested, Could Not Be Influenced: BHK Leader on Coalition with Pashinyan
The leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, Gagik Zarukyan, cast his vote for a secure homeland, a strong, developing, and prosperous Armenia. After voting, Zarukyan reiterated in an interview with reporters the impossibility of forming a coalition with Nikol Pashinyan if sufficient votes are obtained after the elections.
In response to the question of whether they would take to the streets if the election results were inadequate, the BHK leader stated, “If everything is going orderly, what is there to talk about? Why raise unnecessary noise? Today, the people are voting in full. They are voting for whom they trust and believe in. If the people did not wish to, did not vote, what should I do? Tell me, and I will see.”
When asked if Khachatur Sukiasyan could influence him to join Pashinyan through their amicable ties, Zarukyan laughed, stating that no one could influence him: “Do you believe what you said? Who can influence Zarukyan? Zarukyan was arrested, and they could not influence him.”
Zarukyan emphasized that the voters decide their future and that it’s the people who will choose whom to trust.
Responding to the observation that they have been passive during the campaign, and whether they may want to close the political page since the struggle is between two forces, Zarukyan remarked, “Whoever has such intentions is gravely mistaken. Zarukyan has a purpose, a program that aims to make his state strong, developing, and the people prosperous and well-off. Is your purpose for me to close?”
Zarukyan added that they would never violate the rules and those who do should be held accountable.
