Resident of Lori Region Arrested on Suspicion of Offering Bribery

The Lori Regional Investigation Department of the RA Investigative Committee is conducting an investigation to clarify all circumstances surrounding the apparent case of offering and receiving electoral bribes.

The press service of the RA Investigative Committee reports that a resident of Lori Region, while working for one of the companies operating in the town of Spitak, became aware that the director's son was included in a political alliance as a candidate for deputy. With the intention of supporting him, she contacted a fellow villager and allegedly offered a bribe of 10,000 AMD.

After receiving a refusal, she called another villager and promised to cancel a debt of 7,500 AMD owed by him if he would vote for the alliance in the elections scheduled for June 20, 2021.

A criminal case has been initiated by the Gugark Division of the Lori Regional Police under the characteristics of parts 1 and 2 of Article 154.2 of the RA Criminal Code, with the preliminary investigation being conducted by the Lori Regional Investigation Department of the RA Investigative Committee.

The resident of Lori Region has been arrested on suspicion of committing the criminal act defined by part 2 of Article 154.2 of the RA Criminal Code and has provided a confession. During the course of the preliminary investigation, a number of witnesses have been interrogated, confrontations have been conducted, and searches carried out.

The preliminary investigation continues. Necessary investigative and procedural actions are being undertaken to ensure a comprehensive and objective examination of all circumstances of the case.
