Numerous Reports of Directed Voting by Soldiers: Ruben Melikyan

Numerous reports are being received regarding directed voting by soldiers. This was stated by human rights advocate and member of the election monitoring committee Ruben Melikyan during a press conference.

"Soldiers are being forced to vote for the ruling political force. This is the height of disgrace. It is now clear why they changed the commanders of the Mehrab and Meghri battalions. This was not a military necessity, but a political objective," noted Ruben Melikyan.

He also mentioned that similar reports have been received concerning the police.

Regarding issues with the ballots, Ruben Melikyan pointed out that in some polling stations, one of the ballots was larger in size and did not fit into the envelope. “Sometimes they also do not give specific ballots. When the proportional voting system was abolished, it was simply disgraceful to maintain this system, where they are counting and providing 26 ballots,” said Ruben Melikyan.

As for the anti-campaign flyers spread about the “Armenia” alliance in the city, Ruben Melikyan noted that they have information that several public service officials participated in this, cleaning the city at night. “We have received specific reports that around 2-3 AM last night, a person entered one of the CP offices, received the flyers, and that person is a cleaner,” emphasized Ruben Melikyan.
