Human Rights Defender's Statement Subjected to Certain Speculations

The Human Rights Defender's statement regarding the photographing and sharing of ballots has been subjected to certain speculations. This was reported by Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan.

To avoid misunderstandings due to these speculations, we inform citizens that the statement was made because the Ombudsman’s office had recorded specific publications early in the morning, in which voters were photographing and filming the moment of casting their vote by placing a specific ballot in an envelope and indicating that it is the result of their vote, and then publishing them.

By doing so, they were engaging in actions that could make them vulnerable under the Criminal Code concerning the secrecy of voting. The article of the RA Criminal Code referenced in the Ombudsman's previous statement is stated as a notification.

The defender's statements also have an informative and preventive nature aimed at maximizing protection for citizens against potential problems.
