Russia's Defense Ministry Develops Chewing Gum-Like Drug Against Covid-19
The Russian Ministry of Defense has begun developing a new antiviral medication in the form of chewing gum to combat Covid-19. The information was reported by RIA Novosti, citing its sources.
“The chewing gum-like drug is being developed by the Ministry of Defense's 48th Central Research Institute. The combination of the drug’s beneficial properties with an accessible form of application will have a positive impact on the fight against the spread of new coronavirus infections,” said an agency source.
According to the source, the institute is also creating a mucosal (non-injectable) tablet version of a coronavirus vaccine. “After completing trials, this vaccine will be included in various treatment regimens and used as an adjunct to existing preventive drug application mechanisms,” the source added.
