Residents' Littering on Kashgortsner Street Leads to Rat Infestation in Homes

Residents' Littering on Kashgortsner Street Leads to Rat Infestation in Homes

A section of the waterway along Kashgortsner Street in the Shengavit administrative district of Yerevan has become a true nightmare for residents. On June 18, during a conversation with shamshyan.com, residents expressed their frustrations, stating: "Good is good, but bad is bad. Shengavit district head Razmik Mkrtchyan has repeatedly ensured the cleaning of this waterway. However, unfortunately, some local residents seem to be guided by a pig's mentality; as the saying goes, if you bathe a pig and lay it on a clean surface, it will roll over and wallow in the mud. Now our certain residents have turned this way. The municipality cleans it, and they again throw their trash into the waterway, creating an unsanitary situation.

Our request is for the municipality to work with the city council to finally replace the iron pipes located in front of house number 514 on Kashgortsner Street with larger diameter pipes. This would allow the water to flow unobstructed, and then we will implement our own monitoring to identify these messy residents and make it clear that the district head and municipality are not obliged to constantly clean up their litter."

On June 18, personnel from the Shengavit administrative district arrived at the site, promising residents that additional cleaning efforts would take place on the following Monday. They also mentioned that in several areas where rats are swarming, special materials would be placed to eliminate the rats, and further considerations would be made regarding the construction of new drainage pipes.
