Official Arrested in Goris for Prohibiting Participation in Pashinyan's Campaign

Criminal proceedings have been initiated in connection with the prohibition of participation in the campaign, with one person arrested. This information was reported by the press service of the Armenian Police.

“On June 15, at 14:55, one of the employees at the Goris Culture Center reported to the Goris Police Department that around 12:00, the director of the Goris Culture Center had banned her from participating in Nikol Pashinyan’s election campaign, threatening to dismiss her,” the police statement indicates.

It is noted that a criminal case has been opened in the Goris Police Department based on the prepared materials, under Article 149.1, Part 2, Clause 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (Obstructing the exercise of electoral rights, the work of electoral commissions, or the exercise of powers of persons participating in the elections).

On June 17, the director of the Culture Center was arrested. The investigation is ongoing.

It should be noted that snap parliamentary elections will be held in Armenia on June 20, with 21 parties and 4 alliances submitting applications to participate. The electoral campaign started on June 7 and will conclude one day before the elections, on June 19.
