I Want to Hold My Head High on June 21 at Yerablur: Serzh Sargsyan
I am here to stand by you on this difficult journey, to assist with my experience, knowledge, and abilities, in whatever way I can, on the road to rebuilding the state. This was stated by the third President of Armenia and the head of the Republican Party, Serzh Sargsyan, during his speech.
"I am not one to abandon the political trench, just as I did not abandon our country’s defense trench during the war. Rest assured that we will successfully complete the honorable task we started. I believe that evil cannot prevail. We will not allow it; the Armenian nation will never reconcile with the unjust outcomes of the war. I appeal to our citizens, to all those who, in two days, will fulfill their civic duty. On June 20, everything depends on you; the foreign power that has generously promised yet cynically deceived us has put us at the brink of a dangerous divide. You will determine what our future will look like, whether or not there will be a state, without exaggeration," he stated.
Serzh Sargsyan called on citizens to speak with acquaintances who have returned from the war, to listen to their stories, and to realize how incompetently this government has conducted the war. "To trust them again means to pull the pin from a grenade and walk willingly into self-destruction. Ask yourselves what you went out to the street for, what promises were made to you, and what you received in return," he added.
"I want to hold my head high on June 21 at Yerablur, to visit the memorial pantheon in Stepanakert and tell my comrades-in-arms that the Homeland for which they gave their lives is saved—from cowardly, treacherous authorities who serve foreign interests—and we will honorably preserve our homeland," Sargsyan concluded.
