I Call on All Stakeholders Involved in the Elections to Contribute to the Victory of Democracy

On June 17, 2021, at the initiative of EU Ambassador Andrea Victorin, representatives of the EU Delegation to Armenia, the Oxygen Foundation of Armenia, and two local observation groups—the Witness Observation Mission and the Independent Observer—met to highlight the EU's significant contributions to strengthening democratic electoral processes in Armenia. The EU Delegation to Armenia informs us.

The organizations are the main beneficiaries of EU electoral funding; they provide technical electoral support and assist citizens in ensuring access to information and participation.

“It is time to unite and overcome the crisis in the spirit of peace and reconciliation. All generations of the Armenian nation deserve a better future characterized by peace and stability. We hope that Armenia will be governed by the spirit of cooperation, responsibility, and mutual respect. I call on all stakeholders involved in the elections, their supporters, and all those who use the media and social media networks to increase their efforts to ensure that democracy prevails on June 20 for the future of Armenian children,” stated EU Ambassador Andrea Victorin.

In recent years, the EU has increased investments aimed at democratization and electoral reforms. On the threshold of the 2021 elections, the EU is again acting as a generous donor, providing around 1 million euros in financial support. As the largest donor, the EU, together with several EU member states, is once again demonstrating its important contribution as part of “Team Europe.”
