Fraudsters Extort Money from Parents of Artsakh Defence Army Soldiers

The Artsakh Ministry of Internal Affairs reports that there has been an increase in methods of extorting money from citizens through fraud. Igor Ohanyan, the head of the Economic and Corruption Crimes Department of the police, shared these concerns.

Criminals are calling Artsakh citizens from unknown phone numbers. Initially, they build trust and typically target soldiers serving in the Defence Army, stating that these individuals urgently need money. They then request that the funds be handed over in cash to a taxi driver sent by them.

After seizing the stolen money via the "Terminal" system, the perpetrators disconnect the call. Additionally, there has been a rise in cases of extortion using computer technology in recent days. As a result, the residents of Artsakh are suffering significant financial losses.

The Artsakh Ministry of Internal Affairs urges citizens not to fall victim to such scams, to remain vigilant, and to immediately contact the nearest police station after receiving such calls.
