Biden Plans to Visit Istanbul, Erdogan Says

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced that U.S. President Joe Biden is preparing to visit Istanbul, although specific dates remain unknown, according to NTV.

“He said that despite the tense agenda, he wants to visit Turkey,” Erdogan stated regarding Biden.

As previously reported by Tert.am, a meeting between the U.S. and Turkish presidents took place on June 14 during the NATO summit in Brussels, which was highly anticipated given the notably chilled relations following Biden's arrival at the White House.

Biden described his meeting with Erdogan as “very positive,” but declined to provide further details, stating that he would allow the Turkish side to share information about the discussions.

“We had extensive discussions, and I am very pleased with our meeting. I will leave it to the Turks to tell you about it,” he told reporters.
