Shooting in Vanand Village: 29-Year-Old Man Dies

During the night of June 15, the police department of Armavir received information that a young man’s body had been transferred to the "Armavir" medical center with a gunshot wound. An operational-investigative group headed to Vanand.

Through the operational-intelligence measures undertaken on-site, officers from the Armavir and Baghramyan divisions were able to clarify several circumstances of the incident. Preliminary information suggests that a dispute involving several villagers had taken place.

During the altercation, a 34-year-old man fired indiscriminately with a registered hunting rifle, resulting in the injury and subsequent death of a 29-year-old fellow villager. Casings were discovered at the scene.

The 34-year-old man was located and taken into custody by the police, and subsequently presented to the territorial investigative division and arrested. The firearm was also recovered. Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances of the incident.
