Video: Attempt to Strangle Taxi Driver, Robbing Him of Money and Phone
On June 13, there was a robbery attack in the city of Ejmiadzin. The victim, who approached the Vagharshapat police department, was a taxi driver. Two men had stopped his Toyota Camry taxi in Yerevan during the night and ordered him to take them to Ejmiadzin.
When they reached the Charents neighborhood of Ejmiadzin, the passengers attempted to strangle the driver. Utilizing violent actions that endangered his life and health, they stole his money and mobile phone and fled the scene.
A criminal case was initiated by the Vagharshapat investigative department regarding the robbery. The driver provided a rough description of the passengers' appearances. A search operation was launched.
As a result of urgent measures taken for the disclosure of the crime, criminal investigators obtained information that the robbery might have been committed by two men, aged 32 and 35, who were previously convicted for various crimes, one from Yerevan and the other from Ejmiadzin.
Hours after the report, the suspects were found in Komitas Square in Ejmiadzin and were taken to the Vagharshapat police department.
They have provided confession statements and have been arrested. The investigation into the criminal case is ongoing.
