The Civil Contract Party Systematically Involves Children in Its Electoral Campaign
Observations by the Election Monitoring Committee indicate that the Civil Contract Party is systematically involving children in its electoral campaign.
The Committee's statement also notes: “We consider this process to be a violation of children's rights and illegal, and we draw the attention of both relevant state and public and international bodies to this issue.
International documents guaranteeing children's rights emphasize the principle of 'informed participation' of children in politically charged processes. This implies that a child, in particular, understands (1) the purpose of their participation in certain processes, (2) who has made the decision regarding their participation and why, (3) their role in substantive, rather than merely formal, terms.
The same international documents deem unacceptable manifestations of children's participation in certain processes when the child becomes involved in a process whose essence and purpose they do not understand, or when children are engaged by adults not because the issue pertains to their interests, but rather to ensure the visibility of the issue.
