Karen Karapetyan Issues Statement

Former Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan stated that the parliamentary elections scheduled for June 20, 2021, are crucial for the future of Armenia. In the aftermath of the war, our country has found itself in a deep crisis, the course of which needs to be urgently halted.

It must be noted that the combat readiness of the army has significantly decreased, and the entire security system of Armenia and Artsakh has been undermined. Serious social issues have increased, which require the mobilization of all possible resources. The internal division, agitation, apathy, and passivity present in society have a destructive impact on the development of both society and the state. There is a distortion of the state’s role, the political discourse has been reduced to a domestic level, and the state system operates impulsively and non-systemically. We face a crisis in our relations with the diaspora, a crisis in our value system, and a crisis in national ideology, along with numerous other issues.

The situation is critical, the challenges are multifaceted and dangerous, while the solutions are limited and require high professionalism. We must rapidly restore our security system, establish tolerance and tranquility in our country and homes, maintain a reputation as a predictable and reliable partner in foreign relations, implement effective anti-crisis measures to create prerequisites for a prosperous life, restart an effective state management system, and reevaluate our relations with the diaspora, transforming it from merely a helper to a full partner and a lobbying center for Armenian interests.

Our reality today is a minefield that the country must navigate. There is no option to circumvent it; it is necessary to traverse this path as efficiently and with the least loss possible. It is essential to recognize the cost of each mistake and the inadmissibility of taking risks. This can be ensured by Robert Kocharyan. His accumulated experience during his years in public office, along with the necessary personal and managerial traits, allows him to form a professional team to lead the country out of crisis and towards a prosperous future.

He will create an environment where the potential present in our society will be maximally utilized, leading to a national, modern, rational, and effective state.

I urge everyone to definitely go vote, to think soberly once again about the state we are in, the challenges we face, and which team can withstand them and lead the country towards development. Peace and logic to our country, and wishing everyone a good mood as much as possible in the current situation.
