Concerning Results from Lake Sevan: Coastal Areas Show Green Color in the Form of Foam
In recent days, the Hydro-Meteorological and Monitoring Center has conducted water sampling and research at Lake Sevan once again. According to the center, the results are concerning. The lake's blooming process has begun, resulting in very low transparency values ranging from 2 to 2.7 meters.
In the Greater Sevan region, a darker coloring is observed; even in the coastal areas, green color is expressed in the form of foam. The concentration of dissolved oxygen has been recorded between 4.8 to 9.6 mg/L, with the minimum value found in the 30-meter depth layer of the Lesser Sevan.
The water temperature at a 60-meter depth in the Lesser Sevan is 3.8 degrees, while at a 30-meter depth in the Greater Sevan, it is 5.5 degrees. The results of the water quality from Lake Sevan will be published as soon as they are ready.
