If We Lose This Moment and Opportunity, Armenia Will Face Dire Consequences: Former President

If we lose this moment and opportunity, Armenia will face dire consequences. This was stated by the former President of Armenia and Prime Minister candidate from the Armenian National Congress, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, at a press conference on June 10.

He added that in 1997, Armenia was at a critical juncture. Ter-Petrosyan clarified that at that time there was consensus on this issue, but the moment was missed. In his assessment, Armenia is once again facing the same problem, and if we miss this moment as well, very negative events await the country.

“At that time, I recorded the victory in the Nagorno-Karabakh war and handed it over to the next authorities. Vazgen Sargsyan, Robert Kocharyan, and Serzh Sargsyan were so inclined that I could not implement my program under any circumstances. Moreover, Azerbaijan was more ready to sign documents at that time than in the last 23 years. But if I had tried to implement my program, a civil war would have started in Armenia. I do not exaggerate. To avoid this, I resigned,” remarked the former president, referring to the events of February 1998.
