If Identified Bodies Are Not Taken from Morgues, the State Will Organize Funerals: Avanesyan
The bodies of the fallen cannot remain in morgues for a long time, even if there are refrigerated conditions. This was stated by Acting Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan during a conversation with reporters after a government meeting.
Avanesyan also addressed the issue regarding some parents who refuse to take the remains of their children or relatives who participated in the 44-day war for various reasons. “If there are individuals who, with no prospect, do not collect identified bodies from morgues, the state will take responsibility for organizing the funerals. Generally, after wars, we must understand that there is a certain period given for the identification process to be carried out, and then for recognition and burial. But if there are individuals who will indefinitely delay the process, the state must also take on the responsibility for organizing the burial, because it is not appropriate from any perspective to keep them for such a long time. This is a delicate issue, and I would encourage church representatives to get involved in this matter and collaborate with various agencies; through joint discussions, we will find the best ways to get out of this situation,” said Anahit Avanesyan.
