Freedom House Shares Ombudsman's Concerns About Violence and Hate Speech by Political Figures

The Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Arman Tatoyan, made the following post on his Facebook page: “The international human rights organization Freedom House shares the concerns of the Armenian Human Rights Defender regarding the use of violence and hate speech by political figures during the pre-election period. According to Freedom House, this contributes to destructive polarization and the spread of hate speech, especially as Armenia recovers from the war in Artsakh and prepares for historic parliamentary elections.

The Human Rights Defender again calls on all parties to refrain from rhetoric of violence and hate. Elections are, in themselves, a component of the democratic process and should be aimed at restoring harmony and establishing the rule of law in the country.”
