Candidate from Prosperous Armenia Party Arrested in Bribery Case
During the campaign for the parliamentary snap elections, the first case of electoral bribery has essentially come to light, involving a large quantity of food products. There are arrests related to bribery, including a parliamentary candidate.
According to information from the newspaper Hraparak, this concerns the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK), and the arrested individual is Aramais Aproxian, a candidate from the BHK.
According to a statement from the Prosecutor's Office, evidence has been obtained indicating that on June 8 at approximately 21:20, A. A., the head of the party's regional office in Gavar, transported about 80 packages of food to the residence of S. Z., the office's secretary, instructing him to distribute them to voters according to a list.
Continuing the report, it mentions that starting that morning, S. Z. distributed one package of food to eight voters as a bribe, each worth approximately 7,000 drams, in exchange for their votes in favor of the party.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding this incident. A. A. and S. Z. have been apprehended.
