Zelensky Should Initiate an Investigation Against Biden: CNN Releases Audio of Trump Advisor and Zelensky's Aide Conversation

American attorney Rudy Giuliani, who served as an advisor to former U.S. President Donald Trump in 2019, demanded from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's aide Andriy Yermak that Zelensky announce the initiation of an investigation into alleged corruption involving then-presidential candidate Joe Biden, reports CNN.

The network notes that audio recordings at its disposal reveal Giuliani, a longtime Trump advisor, exerted significant pressure on the Ukrainian government regarding the matter of starting an investigation against Biden.

Media outlets had reported on the phone conversation between Giuliani and Yermak back in February of this year, but they have now obtained a 40-minute audio recording of the discussion.

“We need President Zelensky to say, ‘I am going to appoint a fair prosecutor who will investigate and find evidence related to that case. Thus, we will close the Biden issue,’” said Trump's lawyer.

At the end of the conversation, Andriy Yermak assures, “I’m sure Zelensky will say that.”

It is notable that this conversation preceded the phone call between Trump and Zelensky on July 25, 2019, during which Trump asked Zelensky to investigate claims that Joe Biden had pressured former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to remove the prosecutor general, thus aiding his son Hunter Biden, who was working for the Ukrainian company Burisma Holdings at the time, in the investigation.
