The State Has Spent Over 26 Billion AMD for COVID-19 Prevention and Treatment

The state spent over 26 billion AMD last year for prevention measures and ensuring treatment. This was stated by the Acting Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan during the joint session of the Standing Committees of the National Assembly while presenting the annual report on the "Execution of the State Budget of the Republic of Armenia for 2020."

"In 2020, 26 billion 491 million 923 thousand AMD was spent on COVID-19 prevention measures and to cover the costs of treatment," said the acting minister. Avanesyan emphasized that the coronavirus presents a significant challenge, as even healthcare systems with substantial funding have faced collapse.

She expressed gratitude to the Government for paying appropriate attention to all the proposals and requests of the ministry to strengthen the system. "We have re-equipped and restructured our regional medical organizations, as well as those in Yerevan," noted Avanesyan.
