France to Continue Efforts to Reduce Armenian-Azeri Tensions in Cooperation with Russia: French Foreign Minister
France, in close cooperation with the Russian Federation, intends to continue its efforts to de-escalate tensions between Azerbaijan and Armenia. This was announced today by French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian following telephone conversations with his Russian and German counterparts, Sergey Lavrov and Heiko Maas.
A new resolution regarding the return of Armenian prisoners of war is being drafted in the French National Assembly.
According to the French Foreign Ministry, Jean-Yves Le Drian emphasized France's commitment to assisting in the process of reducing tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan and addressing the issues arising from the conflict between the two countries last autumn.
Le Drian also reminded that France is willing to continue its close cooperation with Russia for this purpose in the format of the OSCE Minsk Group, which also includes the United States.
