Human Rights Defender Sends Team to Syunik
Under the directive of the Human Rights Defender, a working group has been dispatched to the Syunik province of Armenia to conduct additional fact-finding work regarding the security zone along all border areas with Azerbaijan.
According to the Defender's position, the security zone is necessary to guarantee the rights of the border residents and citizens of our country. There should be no Azerbaijani military personnel, flags, or signs along the roads between communities in Syunik and near villages in Gegharkunik.
The current situation violates the vital rights of border residents in Armenia, including the rights to life, property, physical and mental integrity, dignity, and others. Furthermore, they find themselves in these areas facing new threats of war and genocidal policies.
